THE INFINITE GAME

We’re proud to share the completion of the Erasmus+ project “The Infinite Game – In the game of growth, every move shapes a better future”, a mobility of youth workers that took place from April 9th to April 18th, 2026 in Sottocolle, Liguria, Italy. This project brought together youth workers from Romania, Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Croatia to explore how board games can do far more than just entertain, showing their power to teach, connect, and inspire.

Throughout the program, participants focused on three core areas: boosting youth work skills, learning through play, and celebrating diversity. Through interactive sessions and non-formal methods, they explored how games serve as creative tools to build vital real-life skills such as teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and communication, while learning how to break cultural barriers and promote inclusivity.

Special attention was given to practical tools and collaborative creation, culminating in the design, testing, and co-creation of a practical methods toolkit for youth workers. Hands-on experiences were further enriched by site visits to a local board game café and a local youth organization, giving participants a first-hand look at how games build genuine community connections and lay the foundation for future European collaborations.

The peaceful setting of Sottocolle, tucked away in the scenic region of Liguria, provided a focused and supportive learning atmosphere that encouraged participants to step out of their comfort zones. Free from passive sitting and long lectures, the daily structure blended intense 1.5-hour workshop blocks with essential moments of reflection and evaluation, allowing youth workers from diverse cultures to share feedback, discuss local challenges, and celebrate successes together.

Supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, this mobility was a valuable step in making learning active and fun again for educators across the continent. We return from Liguria energized, inspired, and deeply connected, equipped with a lasting toolbox of shared methods and ready to use board games to support young people in building a better future.
