We’re excited to share the successful completion of the Erasmus+ youth exchange “What If?”, held from May 25th to June 3rd, 2025, on the peaceful island of Elafonisos, Greece. This unique project brought together young people from Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, and Greece to explore our relationship with the digital world and what it means to disconnect in order to reconnect with ourselves and each other.

During the exchange, participants took part in non-formal learning activities focused on digital wellbeing, media awareness, and life without constant internet access. Through workshops, group tasks, and open discussions, they reflected on how technology affects their daily lives, attention, and relationships, and what changes when the screen is no longer there.

One of the most memorable parts of the exchange was the chance to live offline. Staying in tents just steps away from the sea, participants experienced simple, shared living while getting to know one another without the usual distractions. The quiet setting helped everyone slow down, think clearly, and connect in a more meaningful way.

In mixed teams, participants explored topics such as online misinformation, digital overuse, and how to build healthier habits with technology. They shared their own experiences, listened to different perspectives, and came up with ideas to use digital tools in more thoughtful ways. Cultural evenings, nature time, and daily reflections made the learning process both personal and engaging.

“What If?” reminded us how much we can gain by taking a break from the digital noise. The project encouraged us to think about the choices we make every day and how they affect our wellbeing, focus, and human connection.

Organized by Euroactive NGO and supported by the Erasmus+ program, this youth exchange gave us fresh ideas, strong memories, and new friendships. We return home with a better understanding of ourselves and the digital world around us, ready to share what we’ve learned and live a bit more intentionally.
